A Bug with Zyra on Ascension

So.... While playing ascension as Zyra , I found myself in a bit of a bind when i was near Xerath, their team decided to take Xerath down, and in the process killed me. I decided to wait to use my death passive until i saw either a champion on their team get low, or the ascended itself. About his time my team showed up and started doing damage, so i decided to use my passive into the crowd, aiming at Xerath. I managed to KILL XERATH WITH THE ABILITY... Now, typically after shooting the thorn, Zyra is officially dead... BUT INSTEAD. I was displayed to be the next ascended. After the animation took place, i was resurrected with full HP...

Now I do not know if this is an intended mechanic or not, so I'm going to call it a bug until told otherwise.

If it is a bug, then you guys will take care of it. Granted I have tried to replicate it, but last hitting Xerath with your death ability is not easy. I would assume this may also work with Sion , because of his passive, but have not tried.
