i recently played against a darius in aram and everytime i riftwalked away it would complete before darius used apprehend then i would be pulled from beyond darius's range back to him. sometimes even double the range.

It's supposed to work like that. If he casts it before you flash or blink away it pulls you back.

I believe a Rioter commented on this recently. Darius' apprehend has a long animation, but it determines whether or not a target was hit by it when it is cast (before the animation plays). So, if Darius casts the spell and you blink/dash away after the spell has already determined it will hit you, you will still be pulled back to Darius.

I believe it works this way for all flips and grabs, only most of them have a much shorter animation so it's not as noticeable.

When he starts the cast determines what's hit and effectively apprehended, regardless of whether you riftwalk, pounce, flash, shunpo, etc.
