Relic Shield bug with Kalista

So while I was supporting as Braum last night for a Kalista, I discovered that while the two of you are linked, Relic Shield support item line won't allow you to execute the enemy minion if Kalista has attacked the same minion you are trying to execute. Anyone else experienced this?
