Varus Q Major Lag (Artic Varus?)

Whenever I cast Q, the longer I hold it, the more I lag. I'm not sure if it's related to just Artic Skin with Smart Cast but I was lagging an entire ARAM when casting it. Ended up playing without Q.

This happens to me all the time on every map with Varus and Xerath (that I know of). While I charge the Q my ping spikes up to anywhere from 700-1200 and then when I am finished channeling it goes down again...

Really getting annoying as those champions are basically unplayable
