Masteries not changing even though there was 1 second left in the Champion select

I just totally lost my jungle because my masteries did not change even though I changed them. Without my tank masteries I died to blue as Zac so I lost my passive, but then when I was getting red enemy jungler killed me and I could have survived if I had my passive which I did not have because of the Mastery bug
