Trundle's Pillar of Ice Freezing Champion Between the Ability & Wall

Just occurred in a ranked game where a friend and I both found that after Trundle placed his pillar in a tight corridor we were both frozen in place for the duration of the ability, slightly glitched between the ability and the wall. Is this part of the ability?

I'm all for it being able to block a pathway but if that intrudes with me physically being able to walk for 6 seconds and proceeding to cause the death of two of our team members and subsequently lose the game it seems a bit unfair.
