Not letting me purchase a champion with my IP points?

Im fairly new to this game... and its not letting me purchase champions with my IP, it says "error you purchase can not be completed at this time" then tried it with riot points and it worked perfectly fine... And yes i have more than enough IP points to purchase the champion. Any ideas or help?
