Smart Ping Wheel sensitivity bug

Sometimes when I want to ping using the smart ping wheel, my mouse sensitivity suddenly goes berserk and the cursor goes off in some random direction, causing me to ping something other than what I intended.

I'm using a mac on Mojave 10.14.2, Logitech G502 Proteus mouse
