I was in a party and one of my friends got a S on that champion he played with, he got a chest and I didn't

When a premade ally earns an S, you will get a chest for the champion you are using (rather than theirs). Since you can only get 1 chest per champion per season, if you've already received one on that champion you won't get another.

I didn't have a S rank on that champ i played with I played with taric just to test him out before his rework and i never played him before or atleast never got a S rank on him I think it was just a little bug but i really wanted that chest because I arleady have a key to open it and a wanted to report this bug so riot could fix it

You may have received a chest on him before due to the same thing; a premade ally getting an S.

You can see which champions you've received chests for in your Champion page in the client.

I know how it works and I checked it before I left a comment on the forums but I really think it was just a bug and didn't get my chest but thx for trying to help me anyway with this little problem a have

I believe there is also a five day chest cooldown that can be viewed on your Summoner profile, on the chance that you had earned one recently already.
