Thresh Relic shield wont execute Minions

In ranked I've gotten stuck with thresh twice now and both times I went relic shield first item. It would not. WOULD NOT EXECUTE MINIONS. If I hit them at the right time to kill them it'd give the gold to my adc but if i hit them a moment to soon no execute and no gold. Please fix this Rito it is rather frustrating. IDK if it's just me or other people too but this relic shield bug with Thresh makes supporting very difficult and stressful at least for me.

Thresh is not melee and so it wont execute minions, but if you last hit them and kill them, it will give the gold.

Relic Shield execute will not work on him! (The tribute and heal will though - but only if you actually get the minion, so use flay before you hit it so yo don't end up missing the last hit and wasting gold)

If he was ranged he couldn't attack yasuo through windwall though, so what is he ranged or melee, and ty for the tip on using flay
