Right side of new client vanishes whenever I press something non-functional

non-functional is stuff that isnt buttons, etc. this always happens. i still have an old 1280x1024 monitor which probably has something to do with it, the client doesnt fit entirely on my screen but i also can't change the resolution of the client because of this which my friend says is located on the top right side of the screen. clicking the top to drag the launcher counts as non-functional so the right side vanishes because of that. http://i.imgur.com/ggHfkhH.png
