[CLIENT][MAC] "Unspecified error occurred. Please check the logs for more information." Help Please?

About two hours ago, I tried to open up League, the same way I do as always: click on the alias on my Desktop. But then, after the League icon shows up, an error message pops out: "Unspecified error occurred. Please check the logs for more information." After that, I tried to reboot my mac, but to no avail. I tried to download the game file from the website, but it didn't load in. Chrome says, "Google Chrome's connection attempt to l3cdn.riotgames.com was rejected." So, I couldn't uninstall and reinstall LoL. Anyways, I go to the Riot Support, but had the same issue with trying the download the game. I tried to open up the League folder, and run the game from the "Play League Of Legends" file, but nope, didn't work. I do see the logs file, but I have no idea which folder or log stands for what, so if anyone can give some insight into what that "log" the error message was asking for was, that would be great. I'm going to try make a video to explain what happened and what I tried, but I'm not sure if that would work, but if you see a link, it's to that video. I am using a Macbook Pro, 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 gigs of RAM with an Intel HD Graphics 4000 video card, running the OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 (14B25).

To recap what causes the error message:

  1. Open up the game
  2. The League logo appears
  3. An error message pops out, saying, "Unspecified error occurred. Please check the logs for more information."
  4. Repeated a few dozen times, same result

Any help will be greatly appreciated, as I've been trying to play the game for 2 hours already, and I can only play on weekends. :( Thanks for any feedback in advanced. :)

Hi MMWongLP,

There was a DNS issue earlier in the day which has been resolved - but unfortunately due to how DNS works, replication may take some time to hit your DNS server.

Right now there is a workaround available in using Google's Public DNS servers - please follow the instructions here which should help you get back up and running: http://forums.euw.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=2053745

Give that a shot, and let us know if this resolves it for you or not. Thanks!

If You still have a problem after setting DNS entries and deleteing RADs You should check if your Mac disk partition is formatted as Case-sensitive. It causes problems with Mac client therefore You should format your disk as normal (not case sensitive).

Same thing happening to me, no patches or anything needed, I just click to open the client and a white box comes up. Approx. 15 seconds later the League logo will appear followed by the message "Unspecified error occurred. Please check the logs for more information." I've had lol on my mac since it was released and never had this problem? Thoughts? item 3070
