[Gameplay] Locked into Free Cam Mode

I generally prefer to play in locked cam mode, because I find it easy to lose track of my champion when the camera isn't focused directly on them. But obviously will click on the minimap from time to time to get a quick view of a team fight I might be walking to or whatever. And it is to my understanding that after this is done, the camera is naturally supposed to snap back to your champion if free cam mode has not been activated. Well in my recent games, occasionally, when I click on the minimap, I'm immediately locked into free cam mode with no escape. I press "Y" which is the assigned cam toggle hotkey, and it has no effect. The first few times it happened, I simply clicked on my champion's location from the minimap and the camera locked onto them again. But in the last game I played I could not turn off free cam mode, no matter how hard I tried, and it stayed that way until the end of the game. In my confusion I made my team lose a fight and then the game. This has become too big of a problem for me to ignore it. It's a real pain, and I'd like some kind of solution.

I've had this happen to me before, you can try pressing spacebar (default for making the camera "lock" to your champ while it's pressed). That fixed it for me.

I highly reccomend learning to use free cam. Locked cam means you won't be able to play a large number of champs effectively and it also means you will be less aware. Not to mention be at a disadvantage while on the purple(top) side of the map.

Play with settings and bind your space key to snap the camera back onto your champ. It's easy to keep your thumb on the spacebar.

As for the settings getting out of wack, theres a button above the map that will change your camera from free to locked. You might of hit it accidently.

This is coming from someone who used to play with a locked screen. I learned free cam so I could learn to play Jayce. I still suck with Jayce, but I land longrange skillshots much more often :)

The simple and most reliable solution to this issue, since I've had it myself dozens of times and experienced others having it as well, is to just go into your Settings in-game and change the camera mode from whatever you have it set to in the dropdown list to something else, then back. Then, exit the menu. Sometimes it will automatically reset the camera back into position without having to even flip between two settings.

As for the issue of camera lock being disadvantageous for the purple (now colored red) team, the relatively new Per-Side Offset camera settings helps a lot, as it does not keep the champion in the center but, as titled, at a slight offset to the top-left, thus providing more field of view while camera-locked.

I've had the opposite happen, I get stuck on locked camera mode when I'm using free camera mode. Pressing Space to center back on my champion then clicking on the minimap will fix this for me, but it's hard to do mid-battle.

You can click the free cam button on the side of you minimap, it might work. My free camera usually gets stuck after i respawn after i used it while dead.item 3070
