[Client] Logging into client freezes computer

For starters, I'm using Windows 8.1 as my operating system. Whenever I try to log into the League client, my entire computer freezes. I'm able to play other games, use applications, connect to internet, networks, etc. I tried to recreate the incident after a hard reset, and the bug occurs as follows:

  1. Open League Launcher via. Desktop Shortcut
  2. Launch Client via. "Play" button
  3. Type password into log in screen (username already saved)
  4. Client begins to load, displays window, IP, RP, and profile picture are visible. However, the news and other panels below are blank squares (as though the content is missing); this is likely because this is the point where the computer is frozen. Mouse cursor does not move, hotkeys do not work, applications cannot be opened.

Additional Note: The League Client was loading and working properly before the recall bug hotfix (roughly 4:00 a.m. EDT this morning).

I'd attempt to reinstall. Is there anything in your windows event viewer from the time of crash?

Having the exact same problem. Thought maybe it had something to do with the new AMD update, but after rolling back the driver, no luck. Just hope Riot is aware and working on it. Heimerdinger

This has been happening to me the last few days as well. It usually would work after I try to log in and restart my computer a few times, but today I'm on restart number seven. item 3070 item 3070
