Shyvana AD scaling on q?

I was doing some messing around with and maxed her Q to try and see how much damage I could do to a champ with a Q+Crit combo. I took dragon and got the Lv. 1 buff it gives you only to notice that the AD I got was not affecting my Q. Later I took baron and noticed that the AD it gave was taken into account when it came to my Q... I'm not sure if this is a graphical glitch and the spell description was just wacky or if this is a real bug. I would appreciate if you could take a look... THANKS!
