QIYANA Q DOESN'T DO DAMAGE WHEN PICKING UP AN ELEMENT

So I joined a normal game, just chilling with a friend and trying out qiyana when i noticed that when I traded my electrocute didn't proc. I was so confused because i was doing w eq aa which should proc elec, but it didn't. After a while I realised that my q was not doing damage when I picked up an element buy did damage without an element selected. This is a really gamebreaking bug.
