Screen freezes when I don't move my mouse

After I got done checking out the new alpha client, I went back to the old client and from then on whenever I don't move my mouse cursor, my screen will freeze for a short time. I have tried changing graphics and uninstalling and reinstalling but nothing seems to be working.
