[CRASH] playing ARSR with Ekko and game crashes

I only played a few games of ARSR (maybe 4?) but I never had this issue in this mode or in other modes until today. Therefore I think the crashing has only to do with the ARSR game mode itself. Also, I am on ethernet and don't think internet connection is the problem as everything else seems to load fine and the game runs smoothly until the crash. Some other details which I'm not sure are of help:

• I got Ekko through trade.
• Crash occurred seemingly randomly. Happening during laning phase when nothing was going on, while just moving, as well as during big team fights.
• The LoL client was still active when the crash ocurred and I could simply reconnect. I did try one instance where I restarted the client but a crash happened again anyway.
• I run Windows 10x, have Intel Core i7-4720HQ Processor, and NVIDIO GeForce GTX 980M

Again I must reiterate that this was the first I've experienced. I've had the client crash but never the game I was in. And my game tends to run very smoothly at the highest settings with no problems. I am hoping it is just a bug in ARSR, so I can just avoid the mode until something is found and resolved.
