When I sign in w/ my credentials after the Patch update, it authenticates and then continuously shows "logging on..." been doing it for 20 minutes, 3/3 times so far. Have done all the basics: restarted, checked interfering programs, repaired, etc.

Try running the lol.launcher.exe client as administrator, and then try running lol.launcher.admin and repairing. If both do not work try changing your router DNS servers IP address set but only if you cannot log-in to other clients like steam, origin, etc...
If the problem persists then you need to just wait until Riot comes out with a patch or fixes more of their server authentication issues.
The same thing's happening to me. It's really aggravating me that I haven't been able to play league because of the patching bug, and once i finally, after 2 days, figured that crap out, this is happening. I might stop buying RP because of this.
When are they going to fix this issue, some people can still play while others have continuous lag spikes and animation lag not to mention the disconnection while loading the characters. 4.20 update screwed up more than what it fixed.. soooo over this!
