patch 5.5 computer FREEZE BUG
Everytime I launch and log in I will get to the homepage and my entire computer will freeze not just league my ENTIRE COMPUTER would be lovely if i could play league and not have to manually restart my computer

Same problem i repaired it and re-download the client and it still freezes my computer windows 8
i have the same issue i have windows 8.1 and intel processor. i just got internet after 2 weeks of torture, and i still cant play league!!!
Saying this, this broke my game. Froze from this, and now I can't even get there again. One file scan every time. Rito pls.
same thing. I had no problems at all until the 5.5 patch. I just wanna play and try the new champ rotation :(
I was able to download patch 5.5 then my computer froze. So I restarted my computer and now it says there been a problem downloading it and now I can't log on to my account to play. It's weird.
same problem i uninstall ... delete all folders ... re download and the problem still persist..
Just after i enter name and password and log in the computer freeze.

Somehow I dont think that it's really related to Windows Updates. If you google you can find that this problem has happened before when LoL received updates.

Those threads are a few months old...and it always starts after a new patch gets rolled out.
Not sure what it is, though...I don't have anything with Punkbuster on my computer so that solution is off the table.

Just encountered this problem. I played fine yesterday now all of a sudden this is happening.. Joy is me; not really.

I had this same problem as I posted yesterday but today when I opened the client it had a really small patch and after that my client has been working properly without any freezing. I hope this gets fixed soon for all of you who are still dealing with this issue, it's pretty frustrating. :/
This just happened to me. Only lasted like 10 seconds or so, though. Haven't done anything or tried anything. Just staring at the (blank) homepage. I always feel like "that guy" when I'm the first to post my system specs, but maybe it could help them pinpoint this issue, as the "freeze" duration seems to vary player-to-player.

Sigh, you can at least take solace in the fact that you are not alone in this issue. However this started for me yesterday before 5.5. I have already tried uninstall/reinstall as well
it is whole computer crashed even mouse and keyboard(task manager)... but the voice seems still work.

wth riot, please fix the dam bug as you can see many people experience it. plus it's not only your game that freezes but the entire computer. (think business too, your losing a lot of money, AND PLAYERS!) PLEASE HELP US ! also I've got windows 8 . Also Nerf Talon and Zed.
I have the same problem. As soon as I log in my computer freeze and I have to restart my computer. I have check and it is not my computer that making it freeze. I have tried everything I have seen on here and noting seems to be working. Pls fix.

Exactly the same thing for my laptop. no matter how many times I restart it, it always freezes at the lol home page.
Right click your league of legends .exe
properties compatibility Then you need to tick ' Run this computer in compatibility for: ' and choose whatever operating system you have.

i'm having the exact same problem with my league also. all the other solutions that have been posted on this thread aren't working for me and was wondering if anyone has found a different way to fix this and maybe it can work for me please help this has been going on for a week and i'm getting really tired of it and i'm ready to give up on league completely which i really don't want to do.
i updated my windows 8.1 to 10 after i did that LoL started going very slow n stuff. i tried to re install it but it didnt help. then i degraded my win10 to 8.1 and now when i start LoL and log in everything freezes EVERYTHING i cant open task manager. i have to close my laptop by pressing the button can anyone help me?
am having the same problem but (( WHILE PLAYING IN A GAME )).....its started after i got windows 10......while playing Avery things freeze even my laptop i just hear the sounds that is all
Hi guys! I think this is happening due to Nvidia Driver! The display driver crashes and from there the whole PC freezes!
There are two things that seem to work! First rollback your Nvidia Driver to version 347.88!
The second one is to go to Nvidia control panel! And set integrated graphics card as your preferred card! But this may effect your in game experience!
P.S. this seems like the last resort, you might try other things before switching the preferred card!
I have the same problem, had it on windows 8.1 and now on Windows 10. The only game that crashes is League of Legends, other games work fine ... Pls solve this. Its always happening in ranked and until the pc restarts and responds normally again im 4-5 lvl behind and most of the time thats a loose then :(

Yeah ive had this problem since the patch was released. I've tried uninstalling/re installing but the problem is still there. Every other game on my comp works so my comp is not the issue it seems. >.>
Client just downloaded a small patch...bug still exists. Client froze after logging in and all the pictures/videos were black.
Almost a week now and we haven't heard anything yet...
Same here, I see all the boxes on the homepage but they are black. Not even Ctrl+Alt+Del works. Not sure if relevant, I'm running windows 8.
That's not a real solution, though...it's annoying and it's a bug and it should be fixxed.
Yesterday I did what always gets recommended and completely uninstalled every Windows Update from the last 2 weeks and reinstalled them. The bug still exists for me and that just makes me think that it's something with the client itself.
a) 5.4 worked fine with those Windows update b) as posted on page 2 this problem occured months ago, those Windows updates weren't even available back then c) The client stopped working on Windows 10 all of a sudden with 5.5? So they must have changed SOMETHING.
Yeah, for me whenever I would DL the patch, I would get an "unknown error occurred" usually would pop out when its at 32% or 99%. I've probably deleted and re installed the game 6 plus times. There were two times I would finish the DL on the patch but when I would click "launch" my game won't launch. I've looked at every possible youtube "how to fix" and threads regarding this but still same results -.-... I just wanna play league!
i have windows 7 and i recently came back after a while with no internet and i got to play like 3 games and then i quit and came back and it still happened, i uninstalled and reinstalled and got pvp.patcherkernal isnt working so idk what the fuck to do
From whats happened to me it definitely the windows update, i just updated and now i cant play right before the most recent windows update i was playing flawlessly.
I just posted separate thread on this. Didn't realize everyone was having the same problem. Was in a game when it crashed too.
There is an update downloading for my league, so I think since this is a glitch with Patch 5.5 this small update might fix it. But who knows.

My Computer Freezes every time after I launch league and Log In, it then free's up but all the stuff on league is a black screen and i have to relaunch league and that time it works fine. it only happens every time I start it the first time in the day. Please help.
