Client issue?

I am currently experiencing a lag that happens in game where my ping will go up to around 2000 and make it unplayable. While this happens I can load something like Facebook, reddit and others in the matter of 5-10 seconds. I would like help in explaining what might be wrong if it’s a client issue or my own internet some how. Please and thank you
