Cannot reconnect to game after Internet connection fails

I run LOL on Windows 7. Sometimes my router fails and I lose connection for a while (say 2-3 minutes). If this happens in the middle of a game, the LOL client will not reconnect after internet connection is back. Then, if I exit the game and try to reconnect, I get an error message regarding the firewall blocking the game. The only solution is to completely close the application and log in again. Many times, this means the game is over by then, or at least I have been missing for 10+ minutes. This problem has been happening for a long time (2 years or so). Any hints about how to solve it?

i have the same problem. Any time i get a sudden lag spike the game completely glitches out. won't say i'm disconnected or that i'm having lag but i can't do anything can't move, minions aren't moving. then finally the game will say trying to reconnect but it never fully does.
