Just saw someone with 'Surge'?

iLoveElephants·10/20/2014, 3:52:10 AM·32 votes·10,080 views

I'm not sure if this is an exploit or hack, but I thought the 'Surge' summoner spell was removed a long time ago. I saw this guy using it in-game somehow.

I'm pretty sure he's a smurf, but whenever I ask him how he has that skill, he plays dumb and says something like, "Oh you mean my exhaust? Yeah it's a pretty OP skill!"

brushes people aside in the crowd

I may not be Surge but I AM Serge. What seems to be the problem here?

Obvious hacks. What a dirtbag. The real question is, of all things you could modify...why surge?

That is... very strange.

Kolinichu10/20/2014, 9:07:47 AM4 votes

Hmmm! That is spooky scary indeed! Any Reds to re-assure that the game is not haunted? :s item 3023

Was it used in-game? If it wasn't, it may have been a graphical bug. Like where champion icons are replaced with summoner spell icons. Anyways, probably somewhere in the games code the summoner spell is still there, and it bugged out. Just what i think. As in, actually used to empower the player. Also, as a quick note, I have a level 3 smurf, and surge is not available.

Chaoscontrol10/20/2014, 2:04:58 PM4 votes

the only logical explanation I can come up with that doesn't involve any kind of hacking tools is this:

The client keeps your last selected summoner spells, so this guy had Surge selected before it got removed and he never changed it since then. Would be a big oversight on Riots part.

What's even more of a surprise to me is that the actual game data for the summoner spell is still in the gamefiles and works...

Werewolf Link10/20/2014, 8:30:57 AM3 votes

Well, that is interesting.

Electro52210/20/2014, 5:12:15 AM3 votes

If I'm not mistaken, I believe it is still available for players at lower levels, which is why he has it, since he is only a level 7 player. I mean, he can't even use flash yet!

Reason why I am saying this is because I remember seeing something like Surge's icon when I first started playing. I had no idea what it would do (or what anything would do for that matter), so I just passed by it, without giving it a second thought. Now that I'm level 30, and in Silver 5 year and a half later, I can't find surge anywhere, but I distinctly remember seeing it at some point.

That, or, I am imagining things.

Someone hacking the client.!

Why did this originally get removed for?

Siachi10/20/2014, 4:38:53 AM2 votes

Huh? How... What?

Like, actually use it? The whole effect where the champ gets bigger and everything?

Lajinn510/20/2014, 2:48:02 PM2 votes

Knowing Riot they probably didn't remove the data from the client or something like that, and the guy figured out a way to unlock and use it

Wispilicus10/20/2014, 4:19:55 AM2 votes

I really miss the surge soft drink of old.

The Mormonator10/20/2014, 4:18:47 AM2 votes

Holy shiz, wat. Bumperino

EverTokki10/20/2014, 6:25:20 PM2 votes

This is interesting.. Seriously, people can do weird stuff with games.

Big Daddy Husk10/20/2014, 8:12:34 PM2 votes

Just realized that spell would of been strong on azir if it was still around.

Oberic10/20/2014, 7:36:33 AM2 votes

I want Surge back so badly, it was one of my favorite summoner spells..

Off-topic, why the heck did Riot bring back Promote strictly for Dominion, then delete it from Dominion to make it into an AP item?? I used it on Sivir for push power! :'(

DrCyanide10/20/2014, 9:48:26 PM1 votes

I'm extremely curious what he did, and what other goodies from days gone past are available via that method.

Command Grompt10/21/2014, 12:27:45 AM1 votes

What the? It must be hacks or some weird exploit to get it to work. I wonder what Riot will do about this...

TenSlashTen10/21/2014, 3:27:17 AM1 votes

probably just digging in files. not that unheard of.

soh1gh210/21/2014, 1:43:44 PM1 votes

now that i think of it someone in one of my games had promote

GrandMa5TR10/22/2014, 1:26:47 AM1 votes

I'm honestly surprised a working version of surge is still in the games files.

ModWulf Helhammer10/20/2014, 5:06:27 AM1 votes

'Da hell? That doesn't make any sense.... he also apparently used it in other matches as well

Dıo Brando12/20/2014, 12:56:10 PM1 votes

This still interests me.

10110011100010/20/2014, 5:25:34 AM1 votes

I wouldn't put it by someone to build up a way to exploit LoL to give access to Surge as a Summoner. Probably not possible, but still something to laugh about.

Lowkey Thicc10/20/2014, 4:51:54 AM1 votes

Wow, that's crazy man. I forgot all about that summoner spell!

Oshlet10/20/2014, 8:11:53 AM1 votes

Do you know that guinsoo's rageblade grants surge when your health is low. The champion gains lifesteal, spell-vamp, attack speed, size and red particles similar to sheen. That may have been what was happening.

Supah Horny10/20/2014, 4:49:44 AM1 votes

What du....

FF122410/20/2014, 8:18:26 PM1 votes

It's a hack. There's a lot of unexplored hacks possible with the game.

FlaminMoe10/20/2014, 9:05:10 PM1 votes

Notice each game was in team builder and he was in 5th slot every time... that can't be a coincidence

ShadowParker10/20/2014, 9:39:21 PM1 votes

What if like... this guy is a tester, and they're trying to figure out if they can bring it back or not to compensate for Guinsoo's being gone. Try to diversify the summ's spells roster ya know?

If it was available now I think I'd use it tbh.
