Can't connect to games

So, I'm currently going to school in California and use the schools wifi to get online. I used move my laptop around a lot since i'm in school and such, but I'm having a problem. Every time I try and load up a game it wont let me connect to it, after the game remakes and then I go to start to join another game it lets me connect to that new game. Anyone have any idea why that might be happening?
