Matchmaking matching first time ranked players with silver 3 players

Hey, just got done playing a ranked game with my friend, all excited to fight for my promos, and we ended up getting a Ryze support who we thought at first was trolling due to his standing around, lack of buying, and all in all detrimental play style. After the game we actually felt the need to check into his history and see what was going on, we ended up finding out he was literally playing his first ranked game in league of legends and got thrown into the wolves. I'm 99% sure a first time player shouldn't be at the high silver low gold level (other players in the game were gold 5's and a gold 4) this is kind of a big bug that can ruin not only a players first time in ranked, but their teams experience as well. Was that his Provisional game as his first ranked game? Cause if it was, he doesn't have any previous ranked history for the system to use as a comparison and it will place him in an overall mmr of his Normal Games. His Normal Game mmr must have been in Silver mmr range for you to play with him, or the skill level in that game was lower and it was low enough for him to be in.

Hope you were all weren't too cruel and mean to a newbie, all of us were like that once, and it ain't cool to raging at someone just starting (it's not cool anyway for anyone to be raging and toxic in chat).

Btw: Bronze to Gold is just your majority of Average players. Silver 3 is like your borderline Average player, so don't be hard on people that look to be struggling. Good luck climbing!
