Wrong DMG taken Calculation! PLS change

Hello evrybody, first of all, im sorry for my bad english but i hope you can still understand my point.

The thing is DMG taken(maybe even DMG dealt?) is somehow a bit "wrong" so to say. Its not quite a bug but still very confusing and needs to be looked at. I have wondered why I sometimes have taken less DMG in the after match report with Champions like Sion or Tahm Kench than i should have. I found out that DMG taken does NOT affect shields. Meaning some example maths: to make it simpler i take the Tahm Kench with the 100% greyhealth, and we dont use regeneration or anything and for now not even Amor, only shield and HP

Tham Kench has 2001 HP
now he gets bursted to 1 HP Activates his shield and gets 2000 Pointsshield
this 2000 shield also gets bursted before it starts to decay

DMG soaked is 2000 HP and 2000 Shield so a total of 4000. BUT:
DMG taken is only 2000 So why is that? Simply becouse the Shield does not count. I have tested it in a Custom game with Tahm and let the red buff or drake kill me. No matter if i shielded or not, the dmg taken was always the same. (i was lvl 1 all the time only skilled E and got no items but a ruby crystal) My shield soaked about 100 dmg from red Buff and 200 from drake (2 attacks each) before it expired due to the time limit. Still i always "took 820" dmg, no matter if shield or not, and later i tested it with amor/no amor and result was the same.

Another example: Lets play Ekko, he is on 1 HP, shields himself for 160 gets a Janna shield 240, Ivern shield 240, lux 110, shen 850 So Math is: 1+160+240+240+110+850=1601"HP"DMG needed to take Ekko down. But in the end DMG taken at Ekkos Death report is 1

Pretty odd isnt it? So the DMG taken Stat is simply missleading according to shields.

But not all champs have shields, lets take a Look at Resistance. Here also only lost HP count. Example: 2000 Hp Tahm Kench with 300 Amor (75% Dmg reduction from physikal dmg) 2000 HP Annie with 0 Amor (0%Dmg reduction) Efford needed to take Tahm Kench down (no amor Pen): 8000 Physikal DMG points (and another 8000 if he uses his shield perfectly) Efford needed to take Annie down (no amor pen): 2000 Physikal DMG points

After action Report (both after kill AND after game) tells DMG taken: 2000 for Tahm AND Annie. This is just bad. How should we know who really soaked the dmg in teamfights if both are shown for the same amount? If Dmg taken is a factor for the grade we get after the game its even worse. Think about 2 games.

In the first game you play full HP(for easy math 0 amor/mr) mundo and you get hit by 20 full range nida spears and each hits for 1000 dmg. After the game you have 20.000 dmg taken.

Next game you play full MR(300 MR) mundo and also get hit by 20 full range nida spears which should hit for 1000 dmg but your MR reduces it to 250. After game you have 5.000 dmg taken.

Now look at the stats. Mundo 1 has 20.000 damage taken for his team and Mundo 2 has only 5.000 damage taken for his team. In theory if dmg taken is a factor for the grade one of em should get a better grade althrou they did the same!!! This is totally not fair.

So how could we Tackle this? Its pretty easy. The stats of Damage taken before resistance already exist in Items like Thornmail and the "premitigation" from unholy grail. Simply add that stats atleast in the Detailed Information from the Match History so you can see how much you actually took on yourself so your teammates dont die. Besides the fact that a full tank Leo diving all the game has the same DMG taken shown like her jinx ADC just becouse Leos resistance reduced it so much is not only very irritating, its also somehow frustrating couse you feel less important as a Tank.

Imagine you play a full tank, the enemy blows 5 Ultimates on you and they attack you for over 30 seconds to take you down becouse you got tons of resistance and shields (like a locket, relicshield, Sion W) and right next to you is your allied Vayne which is dead in 1 second from 2 Caitlin basic attacks. And after that happend a couple of times the game ends. And after the game you have only 2.000 more "damage taken" than Vayne but she did like twice or even three times the dmg you did. Feels bad. But if you had the "premitigation" dmg shown you could see you actually tanked like 10.000 dmg from basic attacks and abilitys in one fight before you died and vayne only 2.000 before her 1.600 hp dropped to 0. THAT what would feel good. Then you would know "i did my job and soaked dmg for vayne, enough dmg that vayne could die 4 times from it" I really hope you could do that to help players not only get better information on thier performance, but also feel better about thier tank job.

I DONT know if it also affects dmg dealt in the same way. IF it does its even worse. Couse this way a Caitlin which makes 10 basic attacks on a tank(frontline) dealt less dmg than a Caitlin which did only 3 basics on the enemy adc or someone without resistance. This means: a Caitlin kiting a Skarner and doing 10 basics just to break the shield has NO dmg dealt and a Cait that does 1 basic attacks on a full ap Nunu has dealt 1000 dmg for a single headshot. Now we have the DMG dealt Problem again. Caitlin 1 needs 20 basic attacks to take down a 300 Amor Skarner with only 2000 HP but extra 280 W shield Caitlin 2 needs 3 basic attacks to take down a 100 Amor Vayne with also 2000 HP Both dealt the same DMG, but there is a huge gap between the Efford needed to do it. Caitlin 1 has to "do" 9.120 dmg to take down Skarner. Caitlin 2 needs to do 4.000 dmg to take down vayne. So Caitlin 1 did twice the work Caitlin 2 did, but DMG dealt is the same.

So Riot, pls look into this I would highly appreciate it. Thx for reading and I hope its intresting and understandable enought written.

You didn't actually take that damage, so it doesn't make sense to count it as damage taken.

However, I would love to see the addition of a stat for Damage Shielded, which would get attributed to the source of a shield whenever that shield absorbs damage. So then you'd have a stat that would show all the damage Kench is absorbing with his own shield. But things like Janna could also have a measure of the amount of damage their shields absorbed for their teams, as well.

because those are shields and not your actual HP
