There is a bug with xerath when you W-Q and move your mouse around quickly when casting Q. If you do the following, Your Q will cancel out and reset.

Steps to replicate the bug

  1. Use W
  2. Q fast after W
  3. Move mouse fast while casting Q

^ this will give you the bug 100% of the time. Video above shows the bug.

Great find dude. His ult is also bugged, if you double tap r too quickly the first shot of his ult will fire unto himself item 3070 Xerath item 3070 so many xerath bugs this patch
