Mastery Token bug

When you play a game to reach mastery level 5 with a champion and receive an S in that same game, you are awarded a mastery token but this token does not show up in the hextech crafting material inventory, was this mechanism purposeful or a bug? This happened to me twice now and only happens the game you proceed to mastery level 5.

I ask myself the same thing. I had 2 tokens "granted" to me but only to disapear or never showing up in my inventory. The heck is going on?
