[CRASH] On windows 10 RS5 release candidates, game crashes after champ select

On windows 10 RS5 (fall 2018 release candidate versions of windows). After selecting a champion the game crashes before the load screen appears. The client appears with a reconnect button, but pressing it causes the game to crash again. This has started happening since version 17735 at least and continues through the latest version 17741. There is a link on the brazil forum that appears to have the same issue with the latest release candidates.
https://forum.br.leagueoflegends.com/t5/Suporte/LoL-N%C3%A3o-abre-ap%C3%B3s-selecionar-campe%C3%A3o/td-p/305824

In the event log after crashing an error shows in the application log titled application error with the below text: Faulting application name: League of Legends.exe, version: 8.16.241.6543, time stamp: 0x5b6b982e Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 10.0.17741.1000, time stamp: 0xff202199 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00045930 Faulting process id: 0x3320 Faulting application start time: 0x01d439b2450fce4d Faulting application path: C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\RADS\solutions\lol_game_client_sln\releases\0.0.1.234\deploy\League of Legends.exe Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll Report Id: b2cda2cb-709f-4338-b79b-08cf59e120de Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID:

Based on this I performed a sfc /scannow and found no issues with the dll and as this dll gets replaced during updates and the issue has survived multiple windows updates it probably isn't the ntdll.dll Additionally no other applications suffer from this issue on that version of windows.

Yup I've been having this problem for about a week now with no updates on how to fix it or if there will be a fix, it's just sad

I am currently running Build 17741.rs5_release.180814-1430 and getting this same error. I guess it's about time to start asking for a refund.

As far as I know, the insider program will not roll back key system files. This means this cannot be reversed once initiated unless Microsoft is engaged. I've been through 10+ posts just like this without a single Riot personnel stating that Microsoft has been engaged or that they're doing anything to address this. It's amazing how much they want our money, but won't provide support for the Operating System they say they support. I even got a "Your Shop is open!" email today, which would be nice if I could actually play the game with the things I've purchased. But, let's focus on selling me more instead of making it so that I can play the game and use what I've paid for. It's not like I'm using generic equipment or an unpopular OS. It's used on 2/3rd of the PC's in the world.

Also happening on the recent 17744 build.

I haven't heard from anyone, but I can only imagine that in a month and half when the final Windows patch hits, then a large percentage of the league population will have this problem and it will have to be fixed then or ideally they are lurking and will patch it in ahead of time.

I would agree, that asking for the same level of support that a production build of an operating system receives is unreasonable.

That said the release candidates for windows do exist in part to allow developers to test new software, so no response whatsoever is unexpected. If someone dropped and said "yea we got this, it will be fixed soon (tm)" that would be fine.

Windows prereleases tend to be largely stable and include new features so a lot of people opt in to insider. A lot of people who could spend money in league if the game worked. In the last several weeks I've refrained from purchasing several things in the game just by virtue of the fact I can't enjoy them at this time.

Insider builds eventually update to the final release so I assume my computer will eventually work again, but if it doesn't I'm not going to reinstall or repair windows just to play.

Same Here Still having the issue. I tried running it in comparability mode but didn't get it. I got this but the day this windows patch went out and did a bug report on it in the client now Im browsing the forums. I submitted the report to the Windows Community to find some work around. I did do a rollback to a previous version of windows. The one right before ran league so I played some games, then updated my computer again, now im back to no league. :(

So if you have the Windows.Old files on your C drive you could do rollback. Go to Settings > Update & security > Recovery > Go back to an earlier build. or visit Microsoft's page. It on the bottom for insiders. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12415/windows-10-recovery-options Go back to your previous version of Windows

Update

  1. Build: 17735.rs5_release.180807-1451

From Discussion with Rioter on EUW: They are aware of this issue and requesting Procdumps to help understand how to fix it with Microsoft.

See Link for Details on how to create procdump

OP: MAR 28, 2017 Windows Insider Program surpasses 10 million users https://www.networkworld.com/article/3185461/windows/windows-insider-program-surpasses-10-million-users.html

Read it and weep. If every Insider program user spent one dollar on this game. Riot is out 10 million dollars as of last year for not supporting evaluation builds of the Windows Insider program. This number has most likely grown as the corporate world has made the leap to Windows 10 in spades since the article was released.

And it is not just the builds in general. Many of the most recent fixes to long standing problems in windows have come from these programs. These insider programs also help support video cards, keyboards, mice and streaming equipment. All of these are utilized by users of this game in one way or another.

With that said, as a whole; why wouldn't a company want to stay on the cutting edge of technology. Their users are using new tools and programs every day. This has been a problem for multiple release versions of the Evaluation builds. Why not make sure their product is functioning prior to the next release. I just don't get it. I guess not all profit margins are worth the effort.
