Death Recaps Incorrect

I have noticed that, in game, the death recaps are incorrect. Oftentimes, they will not show you who did the most damage to you. For example, if minions did 200 to you, Alistar did the 200 that killed you, Leona did 300 and Vayne did 1400, it would show you minions, Alistar and Leona in the 3 spaces in your death recap. No mention of Vayne. It WILL say you lost X amount of life in Y amount of seconds, and that number's correct. But as far as the reflections of damage you took, it often leaves out what did the most damage to you, if you have more than 3 sources of damage upon your death. It always has your killer correct. But if the person that did the most damage to you wasn't your killer, then odds are, they aren't there. This has happened to me dozens of times over the past few weeks, and I don't think it's been ever present in the game. I'm sure it wasn't always like this.

The death recaps in my knowledge have never been correct. I've played since beta and they have always been bad, it has always bothered be immensely since you can use that knowledge to great effect if only you know who was doing what. =/

It also claims Revive helped deal damage to me. I think this is the sunfire cape aura but I'm not sure.

From what I have been able to tell, they don't entirely care about the death recaps. I remember reading a similar topic to this one, and it brought quite a lot of evidence to show how messed up the death recaps are.

Truth is, I'm afraid that people don't entirely care that much about the death recaps. If we were to raise awareness (not like a facebook post about breast cancer awareness, I mean actually bringing more discussions like these online) then we could get Riot to change how it's calculated and there could be a fix for it.

Right now, though, preseason is pretty hectic for them, and we're probably not going to see progress for a while.

Thanks for this report.

We are aware that often death recap does not give all the desired information (and sometimes incorrect information). It is definitely something that is on our radar, but the current death recap is pretty outdated and would need substantial overhaul to address appropriately. I personally hate seeing 200 damage from 3 sources and not seeing the 9001 damage from the Akali that clicked on me, but we unfortunately have other higher priority things in the works

Death caps should allow you to see all the damge done to you not just damge frome 3 sorce and 1 being champion_name_unknown.1

They're redoing them, allegedly, and they're horribly broken until then. Frankly, they should disable them. I mean, I've died to revive, had it claim that nobody killed me (but some minions or something got an assist...), etc. The "Odin Shield relic" seems to do a lot of damage... in ARAMs, not Dom, obviously. The more you look at it, the more you wonder why you believe it at all.

I hate this so much! Seeing that I died from X with 300 damage and then no one else shows up. Frustrates me so. -.-

i hate this because i look at that to see what kind of damage to build against. oh i took mostly ad i'll build armor only to find out that was useless.

I hate this. So frustrating as a tank to figure out what def item to build next and see that minons did 1% of the dmg to me but not the other majority. Would love for this to be changed!

I use it more as a gauge of what type of defense I should get instead of actually getting the numbers right. In that it has never been wrong

Riots response has been that they have given up on the problem. They can not figure out what is wrong. Plus they want to revamp and feel spending more time fixing a broken system is not worth their time.

Which sucks since riot wants to supposedly give us more information in the next death recap. Though the current one would be good enough if it worked. But hey revive showing up as taking 15% of your health is OK.
