Client Only works with vpn

I've been getting the unspecified error thing on the patch then I got a vpn and it started downloading the patches but if I turn the vpn off it goes to 0% 1 files scanned. Any ideas of how I can play it without the vpn. It use to work until the new patches came out. Please help
