I don't have time to test it, but the enemy jungler said he smited me right after I ulted. It definitely wasn't lasting 5 seconds I am sure of that. Edit: According to DontArgueWithMe (NA) (posted below), the true damage proc from skirmisher's sabre also kills through his ult.
I'm ok with this for some reason.
It's obviously a bug, but nobody's complaining because Tryndamere has zero counterplay when he ults.
I was about to post that bug. Lost a ranked game because of that :(
aye, seems like smite is a counter to trynd ulti, though it doesn't have to be the smite itself that kills him, when ww uses the skirmishers on him the true damage from the auto's also bypasses his ulti.
I just played trynd against a jungle rammus, and I thought his reflected damage was killing me in ult, but it could have been smite now I see this.

had this used against me today, first time pretty much ever. This bug is 17 days old, why hasn't it been hotfixed yet? Cause rito are lazy.
I guess true damage kills him...? I feel like that would've been noticed earlier, though... And it's still a problem...

Yep just found this out yesterday in a ranked game against warwick with a smite and a botrk. so i got a GA to counter it.. and what do you know it by passed the GA as well and it didnt proc.
Are you f-ing kidding me? This has been here for 17 days and no hotfix yet? Riot what the hell?
