If Thresh throws his hook at a ward as it dies, then he will hook the ward

We were playing a ranked 5s game and my friend was on thresh. He threw his hook towards an enemy Nami as a ward in front of him died, he hooked the ward. We have a replay of the game, but it's very difficult to replicate this as we can't see ward timers in a custom game so we have not tried to replicate it.
