Feral Flare bug

When is moved from one item slot to another, it loses all the stacks you have acquired. For example, I had 40+ stacks on my Flare, but when I bought and placed it in item slot one where the Flare was, the Flare lost all stacks. I will try and play another game and get a screen cap. Thanks for the help!!
