QQ Nasus's Q can't be stopped by Irelia's stun

Is that intentional? Like I would stun Nasus before his Q registers but I still take damage while he's stunned. It stops him from hitting minions but not piercing my face. He's still stunned afterwards, which is great, but it hurts after a while. :(
