Disconnection with no notice

I was recently in queue for over an hour. I started up queue and got distracted with other things I forgot it was there. When I attempted to do anything nothing worked except exiting the client so I assume I was disconnected. But it normally tells me when I have been disconnected. Can someone please explain this? Thanks.
