Continuous patching but wont let me press play or prepare a game lobby

As I got kicked off for routine maintenance about two nights ago, I was able to browse the whole LOL client without any issues.

The next day as I try to login, my client continually patches, saying it will take close to 300 minutes on average to finish the patch, when it gets to about 15% it restarts, then goes to 16% then restarts, stops at 14% then restarts. The pattern is irradic and I have never ran into patch issues like this in the past.

What can be done to help fix this issue if anyone else is having this problem.
