Cassiopeia can ult herself out of Malzahar's ultimate

As I was laning against a Cassiopeia today as Malzahar, the same thing happened twice: As I already casted my ultimate on the enemy Cassiopeia, her ult would fire and stun me, and my ultimate goes on cooldown.

In the first case, she ate a bounce from my e and she was already low so I flash ulted her, but instead, her ult fired, my ultimate went on cooldown and I died. Now how can she interrupt my ultimate if it's an instant supression (and she's the one being supressed)? If you're supressed you can't ult, so you can't un-supress yourself...you know what I mean.

You might argue about cast times here, I'm aware of that. But in the second case my jungler and I both witnessed that when he came to gank, the purple tether was already animated, therefore my ultimate was already chanelling and the same thing happened again (except I didn't die and we got the kill, but it was close).

Is this intended or simply a glitch? Whatever is the case, I don't appreciate it happening. If Malzahar's tether doesn't apply instantly now, than it very well should.

To recreate this simply try ulting with both champions within a small timeframe. It happened twice in the same game, so it mustn't be too hard to reproduce.

Thank you for looking into this.

it may have something to do with travel times (taric stun is in the air when you ult him, etc.) but i could have sworn cass's ult was instant (she's one of the 4 or 5 champions i've never played, so please correct me if i'm wrong)

It is intended. She must have ulted right as you flashed closer.

If she is not CC'd when she presses R, her ult will go off.

If she is CC'd when she presses R, her ult will not go off until she uses it when not CC'd

It has an animation, but not a cast time, like Ezreal's ult. Meaning, so long as it starts, it can't be interrupted by anything short of death. Malz has an instant ult with no animation, so this interaction is not uncommon.

It's travel time. Imagine Nautilus ults you, but right after that you suppress him with your ult. The depth charge doesn't freeze, it'll keep going, hit you, and knock you out of the suppress.

I'd imagine the same thing is happening here, but with much smaller windows of opportunity since Cass's ult seems to be almost instantaneous. Maybe you just got really unlucky.

J4 can pull himself outta WW ult. Just need to have the cast animation happen before the ww casts.

As long as the Cass ult's cast animation goes off so will the stun but as there is a delay from the animation and the stun this is why it is happening.
