Sion Ultimate Cancelled By Ally Portal Gates

Hey guys discovered that Sion ultimate is cancelled by the portal gates which stops possible Sion ultimates from fountain to blue buff team fights or outside base walls.

To be honest, I dont see why you would want to waste an ult going from blue to the fountain, but still, unintentional

Enemy team is chasing you, oh no! But wait, your ult is up! Let me gain distance with ult. BARELY MADE.... what gate stopped me? Gah I got hit by Ez's burst when I crashed into gate and died, GG. May seem silly, but small things like this can be a game changer.

I was mostly just being thorough so show that it stops on both sides going in and out of the portals as well as trying ghost to see if maybe somehow in coding the portal may be coded as a unit, no such luck.

Good idea to test everything you can think of, that would help to isolate the bug more easily.

Edit: I'm going to test what happens with Nautilus Q. Edit 2: Yep, Nautilus still treats it as a wall. Edit 3: Unless you're standing directly next to it, or inside it. In those cases, the anchor particle appears far enough ahead of Nautilus that it's already past the wall.

Gates seem pretty buggy tbh. I had one game where Darius ulted me, BUT, he pressed R chasing me and it went off as I passed gate, hitting me way after I was in/beyond the gate. Afterwards, enemies would pass through the gates as if they didn't exist. It was silliness. I never reported though because... let's face it, Riot rarely gives board posts any attention ): Hope they see yours though! Makes me wonder if it has probs with other spells like gragas body slam. Would be interesting to test these (unlike spells such as nid leap which go over walls, I'm curious about spells like grags or sion where it stops the spell on collision or if it's JUST him).

Yea I did try a few champions with dashes for example Lucian dash works fine through the portals same with Gragas body slam and graves dash

Lucian dash I expected to work, as would Nid's leap, since those ALWAYS go OVER walls, but I meant something that conflicts with walls that would not conflict with the portal. But if Gragas' body slam worked, that's at least good to hear. There really aren't many comparable spells that pop to my head though other than grags... I know there are more but I'm drawing a blank.

Gragas's body slam can go through walls normally too It will only stops at units, excluding walls too thick

I mean there are so many things in the game to program and im sure they have enough people to help code but everyone makes mistakes. Something this simple probably wasn't thought about.

I think the gates must have similar coding to Azir's ult, which has also been known to stop ally Sions.

Oh that's another thing I should test never thought about Sion ult being stopped by Azir ult, thanks for the heads up ill try it out in a custom game and see if it happens 10/10 times like the portals do or if its only sometimes.

It always stops sion's ult and it always has It is for most intensive purposes terrain Makes sense a ult that stops at terrain would stop at it

Edit: wait, Azir ults have been know to stop Allied Sion ults? That is probably totally a bug; not that I'm surprised because, you know, Azir.

~~Saying that Sion ult has always been stopped by portal gates doesn't mean much since they just came out in patch 5.1. And if we are to think about this, the portal gates are essentially a force field that allys can walk through. Sion's ultimate is him running until colliding with terrain or Champion units. If you can walk through the portal gates only makes sense that you can run through them as well, hence it only being logical that Sion should be able to ult through the portal gates.~~I think this will be changed very soon even if it is not a bug riot will add this into coding to allow it.

LOL my bad thought you were talking about the portal gates but my last sentence I stand by for this as well riot will probably change it in the future

I may have to test this, in your video every time you ult, it looks like the part where you actually collide has been cut out of the video, and you aren't stunned, plus the animation for cancelling his ult plays.

All of this together kinda makes it hard to believe. I mean, i can totally see riot doing this, but your video evidence makes me skeptical

This was just how Sion reacted when he hit the portal gates,I didn't edit anything to try and trick people but yes it only takes 5 minutes in a custom game to hit lv 6 and use his ultimate to see for yourself.
