[Gameplay] Champion mastery not popping up in-game?

I recently got level four mastery with Ryze and just got level five. when i was level four i was able to use the mastery emote in game and it would pop up on loading screen, then for some reason i couldn't do this anymore last night. This happened after i purchased a skin and was gifted a skin to use with Ryze. did this affect the mastery popping up in game?
