Opened a chest, didn't receive loot.

I was opening a chest after receiving 3 key fragments and was also in queue for a game. I opened the chest and the game accept bubble popped up at the same time. I clicked accept for the game, played the game, and them went back to the "loot" tab. I had received nothing new, and didn't have the key or chest anymore, and had received nothing. Is this normal?
