I was unable to purchase the full item or the Haunting Guise aspect of either item. Other items worked fine when purchasing.

I've had this problem on several occasions. Sometimes selling your boots and then undoing fixes it. If not, try selling -all- your items and undoing. One of the two usually fix the issue.
