Summoner spell Cleanse not cleansing Zed's Death Mark?

I just played a game in which I picked the summoner spell cleanse. The enemy team had a Zed which tried to assassinate me quite a few times. I was fed and was able to kill him when he attemped to take my life... But then the mark usualy killed me at that point. Now here's the issue. When I tried to cleanse the mark, it didn't work at all. It simply stayed above my head like a guillotine that dropped a second later.

The first time this happened, I though I did something wrong or the game had glitched a bit. But when the incident happened another time, I now had the proof that Cleanse does not remove Zed's Death Mark.

I'm not sure if this is either a bug or an intended feature. Cleanse's description is almost identical to QSS's tooltip, and most player would tell you it does the exact same thing, put aside the 3 sec reduced CC. But this is clearly not true as Zed's ult (and possibly more spells that apply a debuff) bypass Cleanse.

Now I haven't tested all debuffing abilities in the game like poisonning abilities and etc. and whether or not they can't get cleansed, but I'm trying to bring this one to your attention. Common sense would say that Zed's ult should get removed by Cleanse just like QSS removes it.

I'd love to know if this is something that was intended or not. If this is in fact not a bug, can we please get the reasoning behind this decision? And also, if you decide not to "fix" Cleanse, can you add more info on it's tooltip to clearly state that some non CC abilities like Zed's ult bypass it? (for clarity!)

I'll be watching this post regularly and if you need any additional info regarding the settings of this bug feel free to ask me.

If you read the tool tip on Cleanse, you will see that only removes CC (minus suppression) as well as SUMMONER SPELL debuffs. It specifically says SUMMONER SPELL debuffs, not champion ability debuffs.

Yeah, like it's been said that's not a bug.

Cleanse is only meant to remove CC effects.

CC effects include: blind, charm, flee, slow, polymorph, silence, root, snare, stun and taunt.

Non-CC effects such as: damage over time, attack speed reductions, defense shredding and Grievous Wounds. Cleanse cannot remove any of these.

Therefore, death mark being a DOT ability cannot be removed with this spell. Quicksilver Sash, an item that is an alternative to Cleanse will remove all of these effects.

Yeah, it may not be a bug. I did Another test with a friend and can now 101% confirm Cleanse does not remove Death mark. Now this brings up an issue. Clarity. I'm convinced most players are unaware taht Zed's ult can't be cleansed by this summoner spell, and knowing cleanse is deemed underpowered, Why not make it like QSS? If riot doesn't want to do that, then at least specify on the summoner spell,s tooltip that it doesn't affect certain champion-inflicted debuffs

summoner 1 is the weakest possible version of item 3140 . Cleanse does not remove suppression nor does it remove Death Marks. It removes silences, slows, stuns, and removes the damage over time from ignite, and that's about it.

Honestly, the spell needs a buff or it needs to be removed.

Yeah, but Faker vs Ryu as Zed vs Zed in the famous video everyone knows about, Faker cleansed Ryu's death mark and that's pretty much why he won that 1vs1.

Or wasn't that Cleanse? It was a QSS maybe? I can't remember 100%.

Or you can just read the spell's description on the wikia page, because Riot sucks at summoner 13 .

It also completely removes summoner 3
