Champ select screen blacked out

I queued up for a game and when I got into champ select everything was completely black. I couldn't see anything so I force quit and logged back in to find out I had to wait 15 minutes for dodging. I didn't want to dodge, but I didn't want to go into game with the wrong masteries either. Riot should have a better solution for when this happens.
