Power went out, was unable to reconnect at all

Making this short, I was in the Nemisis Draft game mode with my buddy (as Ryze) when my condo's power went out. It came back on and the router slowly configured itself, but I was unable to move even after my internet came back. I could hear the action around me and saw text from the chat between the teams, but the "Attempting to reconnect" sign was rapidly flashing (kind of hurt my eyes) and they could not see what I was typing. I had to call my buddy (the Orianna on our team) on Skype to get my team to surrender, since there was no way I would have been any help, but I later learned our Zilean and Karma reported me for leaving the game.

Is there any way to fix this should it happen again? I do not want to be penalized for something out of my control...
