"Another instance of the League Client is running. Please close it and try again."

I'm a Mac User, and I recently downloaded the new Client. The first time I used it, it worked completely fine. But the next time I wanted to play League, I got this message, "Another instance of the League Client is running. Please close it and try again." Even though there was nothing else running. I checked every file and there was no instance of Lol running.

It seems to work when I restart my computer completely, but now, I have to restart my Mac every single time that I want to play League. :/

I have a mac as well and the same problem has occured. To fix it, go to -utilities-activity monitor and then you will see a league icon with red writing next to it (ex: League of Legends not responding). Click on the one that has the red writing and on the top left of the activity monitor, click the X button.

I have something similar happen occasionally on Windows 10.

I have to go into Task Manager and end all LoL processes to resolve it.

Macs may have a similar utility. If not, you can use the Command Line to kill the processes.

There should be two options when this message appears being ok and cancel. Always click the ok as it will "close" the other instance and open League. I've had the issue for a while and this has always worked for me. Hope this helps!

Found a solution: I have a Mac, so I'm sure how to get get to the location where your League files are found but if you can you can follow these steps and get League working again. ( Ignore the parts that deal with how to get there for Pc's because once again I am using a Mac, Sorry :(( )

Solution: 1) Delete the older client launcher icon off your dock ( or taskbar) and or desktop 2) Open Finder and go to your applications ; find the old League client in applications , left click it , then click on the option "Show Package Contents"; 3) Double click to get into "Contents" then into "Lol", there you will see the older Lol client launcher icon and "lockfile" ... . DELETE both things 4) Start up the New League Client and you should be good, you might have to click a few times and wait a while for it work, but there you have it. Enjoy League !!

Add me to your friends list if your good @ CyborgSam :))

Have you gone through task manager? Sometimes League stays open in the processes even though it's closed. I've had that happen to me once before in season four. You could also end task in task manager and the next time you open it, it shouldn't give you that message
