Mordekaiser's Ultimate on Sion [GAMEPLAY]

I am not sure if this is actually a bug, but in case this behavior was not intended, I wanted to report this incident. In my most recent ARAM game, I (playing as Mordekaiser) used my ultimate on Sion and finished him off within the allotted time limit. However, Sion then came back due to his passive, and I had to once again deplete his health bar for the ghost effect of the ultimate to activate. Intrigued by this, I then later faced Sion again, and waited until after his passive after life came into effect to kill him with my ultimate. This time, the ghost did not appear. So, to wrap it up, Mordekaiser's ultimate ghost effect does not activate until after Sion dies the second time, and using it on him during his second life does not trigger the ghost at all. Is this how Mordekaiser's ultimate supposed to act against Sion? I also wondered how Mordekaiser's ultimate would behave with Karthus because of this.

It is supposed to act like that with Sion it is the same with Yorick you must wait till his ultimate is gone providing your not dead. also the same applies for kog'maw, karthus and zyra you do not get their ult till their passive expires.

Intended.

Mordekaiser does not gain a ghost from Yorick, Karthus, or Sion until the target is definitively dead. Karthus gets his seven seconds of casting, Yorick's ultimate has to run its course, and Sion has to die definitively before you get a ghost.

I am not aware, however, of how that affects the duration of the DoT (if it will wear off and deny you a ghost) or if it affects the duration of the actual ghost.
