My turn to select a champion but can't choose one

it was my turn to pick a champion and i decided to click on the icon of an enemy champion which opened the champion's statistics and stuff. after that when i was about to pick my champion the client was saying that it was still the enemy's turn to select. when the time to pick was over i got removed from champion select since i failed the pick anything.

it just happened right now and i haven't been able to try it outside a ranked game
