[GAMEPLAY]The game is unable to change to a supported resolution when using specific dual-monitors
First of all, i hate the limited number of characters for the title. The issue is much more complex and could not be summed in such a few words. Second of all, i no longer have the needed hardware in order to retest the issue to give you clearer reproduction steps, but i will post both possibilities in order for you to be able to reproduce locally. I encountered this issue a few weeks ago but never found the time to tell you about it right away:
To sum up, you will need a configuration with a monitor that supports somewhat HD resolutions (1920x1080 in my case - Display 1) and another one that supports lower resolutions (1440x900 in my case - Display 2) - both being the max for each monitor. Two possibilities are at hand here: either the lower resolution monitor was my only active monitor at the time and I switched to Display 1 as my only monitor or i was using extended displays and Display 2 was set as my main monitor and chose Display 1 as my only monitor. - sorry for abusing the word monitor;
To reproduce:
- Open the LoL client and log in
- Matchmake and wait for queue while Display 2 is your only active monitor(Show only Desktop 2 from Screen Resolution) - Case 1
- Matchmake and wait for queue while the Extended Displays option is active and Display 2 is set as your main monitor - Case 2
- After chosing any champion, wait for the loading screen to appear on the Display 2 - both cases
- In loading screen, press Alt+tab in order to minimize the application, Right Click the Desktop -> Screen Resolution (Win 7 was used) - both cases
- From Screen Resolution menu, click the Multiple Displays dropdown and choose Show Only Desktop 1 - both cases
- Wait for Summoner's Rift to load completely.
*There might also be a third option, where, from the second case, just set Display 1 as your main monitor without disabling Display 2 - but i actually don't think i did that.
Result: After performing the mentioned steps and Summoner's Rift will be visible, you will observe that on Display 1, the resolution of the game is the max resolution from Display 2. Also, if you will try to change the resolution to a higher one, you will sadly see that the max resolution of Display 2 is the biggest one available.
*Notes - Display 1 was connected through a HDMI cable, while Display 2 was connected through a VGA cable.
Hope this helped. This issue actually hindered me quite badly for that game since i did not have time to restart the client or to return to the previous settings due to a toaster called PC that i had to work with on that day.
CheerS!
