[Gameplay] Kalista's Black Spear Not binding until level 6 Ultimate is used

Not able to recreate. Client crashed and reconnected after minions had spawned. Came to lane and attempted to bind to bottom lane partner Syndra by pressing 7 for the item slot then on Syndra. Item disappeared and champions were not bound. Came back to base and repurchased Black Spear. Binding set Black spear on cooldown several times but would not bind and item stayed in inventory. At 6 ultimate was available to use and bound AS buff was added to Kalista when near Syndra.
